I am a Berlin and Istanbul-based film critic, curator, programmer, and cultural practitioner working at the intersection of moving image, cultural advocacy, and freedom of expression. Since 2004, I have been part of Altyazı, one of Turkey's leading independent film magazines. In 2019, I co-founded the Altyazı Cinema Association, where I continue as a board member, and within it co-established Altyazı Fasikül, a platform dedicated to censorship, artistic freedom, and collective video production that works through digital publishing, public programs, and workshops.
My work focuses on independent cinema as a space for resistance and collective thinking, through critical writing, curatorial practice, and cultural organizing. I have authored essays and book chapters, led workshops and educational programs, and collaborated with film festivals and cultural organizations across Europe and Turkey. I currently serve on the selection committee for feature-length documentaries at Kassel Dokfest and am developing Altyazı Fasikül's new video series on the intersection of justice and image-making.
